PROJECTS
USA/CANADA
NCM Canada supports local church ministries of compassion in Canada. We invite you to promote and live "Compassion as a Lifestyle," by putting your, “Faith to Action,” as God leads. You can demonstrate love and compassion in tangible ways to family, friends, to those in need in your church, to your neighbours and especially to those who are the most vulnerable and marginalized in your community.
Churches are uniquely positioned and embedded into the fabric of the communities they belong to. In Canada, NCM Canada has supported local church responses to individuals and families affected by things like extreme weather (floods), refugee resettlement, anti-human trafficking, ministries to indigenous communities and more.
If you have a compassionate initiative being led and implemented through your local Nazarene church that could use some support, please contact us to learn more about funding opportunities through NCM Canada.
Growing Projects
Global hunger is on the rise. Wars, conflicts, changing climate, rising prices and corruption are some of the main drivers causing the hunger crisis.
Through Growing Projects, you can sponsor an acre or more of farmland. Funds raised through the project are then used to support people around the world with emergency food and longer-term food security support. Funds raised through Growing Projects are sent to NCM Canada’s account at the Canadian Foodgrains Bank, where they are often matched up to 4:1 by the Government of Canada.
Grow Hope Markdale
The Grow Hope Markdale project is a partnership of the Markdale Church of the Nazarene, Nazarene Compassionate Ministries Canada and Canadian Foodgrains Bank. It is located at 794854 East Back Line, just east of Markdale. The Goudy family farm the land.
In 2023, 42 acres were contributed, and the total raised by the Grow Hope Markdale Growing Project was $50,175.12. After paying for the farmers input costs ($400 per acre x 42 acres) the net income was $33,375.12.
These funds allow NCM Canada to program and/or support Food Security projects that aim to “end global hunger” through the Canadian Foodgrains Bank (CFGB).
Seeds of Life
Seeds of Life is an ecumenical church and community-based project located in Alberton, Ontario. They raise funds to support the work of Canadian Foodgrains Bank. NCM Canada typically receives one-third of the total funds raised through this effort, which is then sent directly to our account at CFGB.
In 2023, 72 acres were planted. All acres were sponsored, and the harvest sold, which resulted in approximately $29,250 CAD designated for NCM Canada to program and/or support Food Security projects through Canadian Foodgrains Bank.
